Axolotl rescue organization for unwanted Axolotls or Axolotls that have been injured, neglected, or mistreated.
VC-I
Axolotl Rescue program includes the following:
a) Provides a temporary home for any unwanted Axolotls
b) Finding an appropriate new home for unwanted Axolotls
VC-I Axolotl Rescue program includes educating the public
regarding the proper care and maintenance of Axolotls. At VC-I Axolotl Rescue we promote responsible pet ownership practices
for Axolotls.
VC-I Axolotl Rescue program also includes protecting the rights and interests of individuals to maintain,
breed, and sell Axolotls in a responsible manner. We provide assistance to public leaders with answers to questions they may
have regarding Axolotls.
If you have an unwanted Axolotl that you can no longer keep, please contact us for assistance. We
do not purchase these Axolotls from you, however we are willing to accept your Axolotl into our shelter if at all possible.
If we are unable to temporary house any Axolotl we will help you find a new home for your Axolotl.

How to ship your axolotl
Here is what you need
1. Styrofoam Box (Get a free one from a small tropical fish store)
2. 1.5 to 2 milliliter flat plastic bags (get it from a tropical fish store)
3. Rubber bands
4. Frozen bottle of water (use when the weather is above 70 degrees)
5. Packing peanuts
6. Box
Tape
First stop
feeding your Axolotl for 2 days before you ship them. This helps prevent their waste from spoiling the water while they are
in transit.
Next place the Axolotl in 1.5 to 2 milliliter flat plastic bags, you can get the bags from
a tropical fish store. You bag size should be around 8” x 15”, but the longer the bag is the better. Put only
one Axolotl in each bag. Then fill the bag with no more than 1/3 full of water (make sure that water level is over the Axolotl)
and 2/3 air. A minimum amount of water is necessary because Axolotls are air breathers. Each bag should be pumped up (use
a bike pump) with air. Then twist the end of the bag and bend over the twisted end in half (doubling up the twisted end). Use
a rubber band to tie and secure the bag. Then put in a 2nd bag it in the opposite direction to eliminate any corners
of the bag where the Axolotl could get trap and this also helps to prevent air and water leaks.
Your shipping
box should be made of Styrofoam
this will help insulate your axolotl from temperature changes En Route. You can get a used box for free from
a small pet store that sells fish, the large pet stores recycle their boxes (PetSmart). Fill the box up with packing peanuts
to avoid the bags from moving around. Put a frozen bottle of water in you shipping box if the weather is above 70 degrees.
This will lower the temperature inside the box and lower the Axolotl metabolism during the trip. Tape all box seams with
box tape. By packing your Axolotl
correctly this should help minimize stress to the Axolotl during shipping. If you are interested in adopting an Axolotl please
