Saving the Water Dragon (Axolotl) Video

the steps that are being taken to save the Water Dragon (Axolotl) in Mexico.
The Water Dragon (Axolotl) is classified as an appendix 11 species
under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). The species that are listed on Appendix II are not
threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled.
The axolotl numbers in the
wild have declined for the following reasons:
1. The introduction of the Tilapia Carp into Lake Xochimilco Mexico;
this is an invading foreign species that is eating the eggs of the Water Dragon (Axolotl)
2. Shrinking habitat;
due to draining lakes to help prevent flooding
3. Poor water conditions; due to farm runoff of pesticides
and fertilizers into Lake Xochimilco Mexico
Many animals listed as an appendix 11 species have suffered shrinking
