Water Dragons are NOT Tropical Fish; they are Cold Blooded Amphibians, they like a lower temperature like 50 degrees rather than being at 72 degrees. Always maintain your water temperature Below 72 degrees. It is always better to keep your Water Dragons at a lower temperature, than at a high a temperature.

Introduction to Water Dragons (Axolotls)
At 350 million years old, Water Dragons (Axolotls) are one of the oldest living amphibian species on the planet. At end of the 18th Century Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) brought the first Water Dragons (Axolotls) back to England and later, they were displayed at Natural History Museum in Paris. 

In the wild the Water Dragons (Axolotls) are found in only (1) one lake in Mexico, Lake Xochimilco (sō-chē-mēl-kō) and the surrounding canals of Lake Xochimilco.

The name 'axolotl' references the Aztec god Xolotl. The god Xototl is the god of games; who could turn himself into an axolotl to escape his enemies. The Water Dragon (Axolotl) is very unique type of salamander; native only to Mexico and its scientific name is Ambystoma mexicanum.

The Water Dragon (Axolotl) is also "neoteric", that means that it doesn't routinely undergo metamorphosis from the larval to adult form, as happens with most other salamanders. Instead, the Water Dragon (Axolotl) stays in the larval form its entire life (neoteric). With gills and the Water Dragon becomes sexually mature and reproduces in the neoteric state. Water Dragon (Axolotl) lives their entire lives in water; from birth to death.

The Water Dragon (Axolotl) has amazing regenerative abilities if they are injured or if they lose a body part i.e. leg, tail or toe; the Water Dragon (Axolotl) will regenerate that lost part in usually about 10 weeks.
